The study was conducted to determine and analyze the effects of organizational restructuring to employee workplace attitude in selected manufacturing companies located in the province of Cavite. Specifically, the study was conducted to: determine the socio-demographic profile of the respondents; determine the organizational restructuring implemented by the company in terms of downsizing, outsourcing, and re — engineering; determine the level of workplace attitude of the employee in manufacturing companies in terms of job satisfaction, job involvement, and job commitment; compare the workplace attitude of the employee in manufacturing firms when they are grouped base on socio-demographic profile; and analyze the effect of organizational restructuring in workplace attitude of employees in manufacturing firms.
The study was conducted during the second semester of the academic year 2018-2019 in the province of Cavite. Survey questionnaires were used in obtaining the primary data needed for the completion of the study.
Most (69%) of the respondents were female, belonging to the 24-47 age brackets, and 77 percent for 5 to 9 years of work experience. Fifty percent were in Human Resource Management Department. Most of the respondents were found to be based in Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA). Most of the manufacturing companies have been operating for a minimum of 5 years.
In terms of organizational restructuring, downsizing workforce was 3 percent, outsourcing of manpower was 52 percent, change in business process was
6 percent, and other organizational restructuring was 11 percent.
Job satisfaction, job involvement, and job commitment were not significantly different to the employee's workplace attitude when respondents were grouped according to age, gender, and years of work experience. There was highly significant difference on employee workplace attitude in terms of job satisfaction, job involvement and job commitment based on position.
Upon simple linear regression analysis, to analysis downsizing and re engineering have a positive effect in employee workplace attitude, while initial outsourcing has a negative effect in employee workplace attitude.
