DE LOS SANTOS, JANINE P., and GASTON, GRACE ANN D., A System Study at PV Tech Corporation. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. July 2022. Adviser: Engr. Jay Vee L. Lacostales. System study involves documenting an organization's existing systems and identifying current deficiencies to design systems and procedures that will help them accomplish their objectives and become more effective and efficient. The study was conducted to improve the current system at PV Tech Corporation in Rosario, Cavite, using different industrial engineering tools and techniques. PV Tech Corporation is a company that supplies and produces solar panel modules. It caters specifically to the needs of its users, providing clients with a reduced environmental impact on their property and lower operational costs. The module inspection section is a support section of PV Tech Corporation that engages in inspecting incoming modules from the supplier. Various problems in the operations of the current system of the section were analyzed using different industrial engineering tools as well as a process audit checklist. To address the problem in the module inspection section, researchers used a process audit checklist as the research instrument for the study, and the respondents were those who had direct experience in the module inspection section of PV Tech Corporation. The DMAIC methodology was used for the improvement of a current system. For the define phase, problems were identified through a process audit checklist and using different industrial engineering tools. The measure phase includes creating and executing data through a process audit checklist. In analyze phase, an interrelationship diagram was formulated to further analyze and to recognize the processes in the module inspection section that were used to determine root causes of problems and opportunities for improvement. In improve phase, the researchers fixed the root causes of the problems identified. The researchers proposed actions to resolve the root causes. Lastly, in the control phase, it determined the result and capability of the improvements to make the module inspection section more efficient. As a result, researchers successfully improved the current system of the module inspection section of PV Tech Corporation. In Pareto analysis, researchers identified issues such as delays in production, having defect parts, machine breakdown, and lack of process facility. Using the 80-20 rule, however, delay in the production and having defect parts had an 80 percent impact on the process of the module inspection section. The researchers used why-why analysis to identify the root causes and create a fishbone diagram. To understand the process of the module inspection section, the flow process chart, flow diagram, operational process chart, and time study analysis were applied. Lastly, the researchers eliminated every unnecessary operation in the module inspection section of PV Tech Corporation. With the new system established, the system was made in such a way that it would improve the quality and the process flow of the module inspection section.
