According to Lumabi (2020), Tagalog slang prevalent in the 1960s is making a comeback and being promoted by Filipino Millennials through social media. This can be widely seen in Facebook as it is the most used social media in the Philippines. In lieu, the study aimed to determine the impact of social media on the evolution of Filipino slang word. Specifically, the study sought to determine the most used Filipino slang words, the social media platform students acquire these words, and the level of students' perception about social media's impact on the evolution of Filipino slang words. The study used a descriptive quantitative design among 209 first-year students from the College of Arts and Sciences. Results revealed that there was an impact of social media on the evolution of Filipino slang words. Based on the result in the level of perception of the students, most of their answers all under Agree with the computed mean of 1.96. The hypothesis test result is that it failed to reject the null hypothesis; hence, there is no significant difference between gender and course group. The authors of the study want to acknowledge important recommendations. Considering that social media has an impact on the evolution of Filipino slang words, future researchers may also include more Filipino slang words that are not mentioned in the study. This study can serve as a guide for a more in-depth exploration of studying Filipino slang words. And lastly, this will serve as a baseline for them to conduct a larger group of participants.
