LUMANDAS, RICHARD R., Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite, March 2000. "Flower Induction of Bromeliad (Guzmania sp. "Samba") Using Different Levels of Ethrel". Adviser : Dr. Adolfo Manuel Jr.
The study determined the most effective Ethrel concentration in flower induction of Guzmania sp. The study was conducted at the Ornamental Nursery with four treatments replicated four times and arranged in Completely Randomized Design (CRD). Four Ethrel concentrations were used to induce flowering in 4-6 months old potted bromeliads.
Bromeliads responded positively to Ethrel application in terms of earlier and higher percentage of flowering and induced plant height compared to untreated plants. Growth parameters such as, number of leaves and canopy diameter of the plants were, however, not affected by the treatments.
Ethrel concentration as low as 200 ppm applied once to Guzmania sp. var. "Samba" could induce earlier and higher percentage of flowering.
