Providing culturally competent and high-quality nursing care is a nurse's professional and moral responsibility and is one of the essential nursing attributes. The researchers employed a quantitative non-experimental correlational design in assessing the cultural competency and caring behavior among nurses in selected private tertiary hospitals in Cavite who have satisfactorily met the inclusion criteria. The researchers focused on the following: (1) respondent's socio-demographic profile in terms of age, sex, years of service, area of designation and position, (2) respondent's cultural competency in terms of technological factor, religious and philosophical factor, kinship and social factors, cultural, values, beliefs and lifeways, political and legal factors, economic factors and educational factors, (3) significant relationship between the respondent's profile and to their cultural competency? (4) significant relationship between the respondent's profile and their caring behavior? and (5) significant relationship between the respondent's cultural competency and their caring behavior?
The researchers formulated a questionnaire survey utilized in gathering detailed information about the cultural competency and caring behavior among Nurses in selected Private Tertiary Hospitals in Cavite. There were a total number of 168 nurses from 180 population with a response rate of 93.33 percent from selected nurses in tertiary hospitals in Cavite, chosen via simple random sampling. Nurses answered the questions by rating each item using a Likert's Scale.
The questionnaire tool underwent validation, as well as reliability test with
Cronbach's Alpha result of .715 and was validated by the expert faculty members and Filipino nurses working abroad to determine the content and objectives measured by the instrument used.
