The study was a Comparative Analysis of the films Filipinas and Tanging Yaman on the Image Portrayal of Mother. The study was conducted at Cavite State University from November 2004 to February 2005. It was conducted to analyze and compare the films Filipinas and Tanging Yuman and to determine the images of mother portrayed in the films. Specifically, it aimed to present the summary/ synopsis of the two films, characterize the similarities and differences of the films Filipinas and Tanging Yunnan in terms of its theme and identify the images of a mother portrayed in the said films based on its scenes. The study used analysis table form to analyze the films and to present the images of a mother. Results of the evaluation manifested the different images of a mother portrayed in Filipinas and Tanging Yuman. Results showed that the mothers in the two films were loving, religious, authoritative/powerful, sacrificial and longing for the love of their siblings. The film Filipinas and Tanging Yaman showed a reflection of a family. The film showed the problems and gaps that happened within the family; nevertheless it can help the viewers to be informed how the problems were solved and somehow members of the family realized the value of a good family relationship.
