A study on the raising of native cattle was con-ducted to determine the different management practices employed by farmers engaged in native cattle raising at Buna Lejos, indang, Cavite, from October 1977 to December 1977. Personal interviews with prepared questionnaires were used in gathering the data for this study. Selection of breeding stock was not practiced. Bulls and Heifers were naturally bred at the age of two to three years. Palpation method and observation of the cow to show signs of estrus were used in determining prega nanny. Feeds such as grasses, corn stobbers and forages which usually came from the farm were given to the cattle. Salt and molasses were also supplemented. Restricted and self feeding were used. At the age of four to five years, the cattle were directly sold to the butcher. Lack of capital, limited source and supply of feeds especially during dry season, inadequate knowledge on the occurrence of diseases and parasites, and no definite vaccination program were the problems encountered by the farmers engaged in native cattle raising.
