An observation using 225 day-old straight-run commercial broiler chicks was conducted to determine the relationship between brooding and rearing performance characteristics of broilers.

Results revealed no apparent relationship between the average body weight at four weeks old and the average body weight of the birds at six and seven weeks old. Similarly, no apparent relationship was observed between the cumulative average feed consumption at four weeks old and the average feed consumption during the rearing period.

The same observation was likewise obtained in terms of feed efficiency.
