This study analyzed and determined demographic profile and perceived factors affecting the pastoral work of selected priests from the diocese of Imus, conducted from November 2006 to February 2007. Study determined the demographic profile of priests in terms of the following: age, years in the ministry, parish classification, clerical status and highest educational attainment. Furthermore, study also determined the extent of the perceived factors affecting the pastoral work of the priest respondents in terms of societal, economical, and psychological factors, as well as the significant relation between the demographic profile and the perceived factors affecting the pastoral work of the priest respondents.
Purposive sampling procedure was used to determine the respondents. A self-made questionnaire was used to determine the demographic profile and position of the priest respondents on the perceived factors that may affect their pastoral work. Correlation was determined with the used of statistical method, particularly chi-square and correlation coefficient. The respondents of this study were 32 selected priests from the diocese of Imus, where 14 or 43.8 percent belonged to age 39 and below, 11 or 34.4 percent were 40-49 years of age, while 7 or 21.9 percent belonged to 50 years old and above. Demographic profile show significant effect on the perceived factors. However, only parish classification shows no significant effects on perceived psychological and economic factors in 0.01 significance.
