This study aimed to assess different fertilization schemes in honeydew melon (var. ‘Jade Lady’) production. Specifically, it aimed to evaluate the performance of honeydew melon applied with effective microorganisms, compare growth and yield performance of honeydew melon with effective microorganisms and inorganic fertilizers; and evaluate cost and return of honeydew production involving the application of effective microorganisms and inorganic fertilizer. It was conducted at the Pamatmat Farm , Bay, Laguna from November 2004 to January 2005.

Treatments involving application of inorganic fertilizer and effective microorganism significantly affected vine length, number of fruits per hill, fruit weight and total soluble solids. However, profitability of production was computed only in honeydew production using inorganic fertilizer.

Conventional method through the application of inorganic fertilizer was still the best option compared to no fertilization and application of Effective Microorganism terms of promoting growth, fruit production and sweetness of honey dew
