A study entitled " Effects of Population Density on the Growth and Yield of Bush Sitao " was conducted at DSAC Experimental Field from December, 1996 to February, 1997 to deter- mine which planting distance will give the highest yield of
bush sitao.

Four different Planting distances were used as treatments which were replicated 4 times and arranged in the experimental field using a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). These treatments were a) Ty - (50cm x 10 em), b) Tp» (50 cm x 20 cm), ¢c) Tg - (50 cm x 30 em) and d) Tg - (50 cm x 40 cm).

Results of the study revealed that Planting distance 1 or Treatment 1 (50 x 10 cm) was the treatment that produced the highest yield and Significantly different from the other treatments.

Furthermore, Treatment 1 (50 x 10 cm) gave the highest Computed yield per hectare in kilograms. It was also observed that population density had no Significant effect on the number of seeds per pod per treatment, number of days from Planting to germination, number of days from planting to harvesting, average plant height in centimeters, average length of pods in centimeters, and diameter of pods in centimeters.
