A 480-hour field study was conducted at Keylargo Industrial Sales in Quezon City, from November 19, 2007 to February 20, 2008 to apply the knowledge and skills of the author acquired from the classroom to actual business operations. Specifically it aimed to describe the organization and management of the firm, expose the student to the operation of the firm particularly the operation at the Purchasing Department; identify the different problems faced by the firm and to recommend some relevant and feasible solutions to the problems.

Relevant data were gathered through observations, personal interviews with the employees who are knowledgeable in specific matters relative to the study and through research in the company’s files and records.

Keylargo industrial Sales is one of the members of Hexagon Group of Companies. It trades industrial products like submersible pumps, submersible motors, fire pumps, flow meters, gas, spare parts, accessories and others related products. Keylargo’s main problem is the delayed delivery of the products.

The field study focused on the Purchasing Department where the student was assigned. Included in the daily activities of the author during her stay in the firm were encoding of purchase orders, sending fax messages, typing, answering and making telephone calls, editing, retrieving files, writing business letters and other related activities.
