LACERNA, MICHELL P. Status and Prospects of Spa Businesses in Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Business Management major in Marketing. Cavite State University, Imus, Cavite. March 2009. Adviser: Alfe M. Solina.
This study aimed to determine and describe the status and prospects of spa businesses in Cavite in terms of its internal and external environment. Variable in the internal environment are years in operation, form of business, starting capital, market and staff profile, sources of technologies, methods of employee
development and treatments, and sources of materials. In terms of the external environment, the considerations were competition, potential entrants, substitutes, suppliers, and regulating bodies. Prospects were described under the above mentioned premises in addition to profitability. Using multilevel sampling, there were 22 spa establishments and 110 clients as respondents. In the analysis of the data gathered, the paper used frequency percentage method, Likert scale, weighted mean, profitability ratios (return on investment, net profit margin, return on investment, and return on total assets), and Porter's five factors of analysis. The results showed that each variable in the internal and external environment of spa businesses reflect an opportunity for further growth of the business. Much of the prospects are influenced much by the market's acceptance and expectations.
