BESTMER VON RODIL, JENNIFER JOYCE ROLLO, MARY CRIS SANDINO. A Comparative Study on the Dental Health Status of Preschoolers between Selected Private and Public Schools in Tanza, Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Cavite State University, Indang Cavite. April 2009. Adviser Mrs. Annie Mojica- Ramos.
The research was conducted at selected private and public schools in Tanza, Cavite from August 2008 to April 2009, to compare the general dental health status of preschoolers from selected private and public schools. The general dental health status of the respondents was identified by the researchers by having a thorough observation and inspection of the respondent's oral cavity making use of a questionnaire adopted from a dentist. In particular, the research makes use of three indicators which are Tooth Brushing, Food Preferences and Dental Consultations which measures the perception and practices of the respondents hence describing the significance of the three in the respondent's general dental health status. The findings of the research suggested that significant differences were observed in the dental health status of the respondents. The respondents from private school had "Good" general dental health status while the respondents from public school had "fair" general dental health status and the three variables which were Tooth brushing, Food Preferences and Dental Consultation had a direct affect on the significant difference among the two schools. Having identified these significant differences would be of great help for the Rural Health Unit of Tanza, Cavite in improving their oral health promotion and prevention campaigns among preschoolers.
