Analysis and design of conventional and modern houses was conducted from June 2009 to February 2010 at the Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. The objective of the study was to prepare architectural and structural plans, and electrical and plumbing layouts of conventional and modern houses. Cost estimates and construction schedules were also included in the plans. This design project served as reference materials for all individuals who are interested to know about the designs of plans of conventional and modern houses The Engineering Software STAAD Ill (Structural Aided Analysis and Design} was used in the analysis ' structural framework. The ultimate moment, shear and axial loads were the basis for the design.

The guidelines set by National Structural Code of the Philippines (NSCP) were followed in the design computation. Safety, economy, and aesthetic aspect were considered in the design of structures. Economy in utilizing of construction material and methods were considered in determining the cost and construction schedules. The design project focused only on concrete design. Modern house tend to cost more than conventional house. The study showed that it would take a longer time to constrict a conventional house as compared to a modern house.
