The farm practice training on the production of high-value vegetable crops in a modern greenhouse technology was conducted at the Alfonso Bay Farm Corporation located at Brgy. Marahan Il, Balubad Rd., Alfonso, Cavite from November 15, 2010, to January 28, 2011. High value vegetables such as lettuce, tomato and bell pepper were produced in modern greenhouses. Various skills in the production of these crops were gained and enhanced such as in the preparation of media, seed sowing, fertilizer application, transplanting, pruning, lowering, and trellising. Postharvest handling activities like sorting and grading vegetables were also performed. Similarly, knowledge in the use of computerized fertigation was also gained during the training.
The farm practice program enabled the student to acquire experience in managing vegetable production enterprise which could be of great help in preparation for his future profession.
