A study entitled "Utilization of Tallow for Soap" was conducted in Banaba Cerca, Indang, Cavite from the 2nd week of November to the 1 st week of January to produce quality but affordable bath soap from cheap raw materials. Specifically, it aimed to: (1) utilize tallow in making toilet soap; (2) determine the effectiveness of tallow in soap making, and (3) evaluate the chemical and physical properties of different treatments of soap. Two treatments were used in the study: Treatment 1 is soap with cups of olive oil and Treatment 2 is soap with two cups of tallow.
The physical properties of soap were determined based on the detection of color, odor, hardness, mildness, and general acceptability. Chemical evaluation was also done to determine the pH contents of the soaps. The statistical tools that were used in analyzing data are T-Test and the Univariate Analysis.
Analysis of the mean scores shows that Treatment 2 (soap with 2 cups of tallow) is superior tn color, odor, hardness, and general acceptability. However, olive oil soap is still superior in terms of mildness.
