Online Student Counseling for Cavite State University — Main Campus was conducted at the Office of the Student Affairs in Cavite State University. The study was conducted to develop software that will connect the student, the College Guidance Counselors and the University Guidance Counselor. This aimed to (1) identify the requirements to fulfill the needs in developing the online counseling through interview; (2) analyze and illustrate the problems using Ishikawa Diagram; (3) design a system using the flow of component diagram and the structure of use case diagram; (4) develop a system that can conduct counseling using PHP as scripting language and, MySQL for creating and managing of the database that was used for storing information; (5) test and evaluate the system using unit testing, integration testing and software evaluation.

Software Development Methodology was used in the development of the system. The following phases were used for the step-by-step process: Analyze/Planning, Breakdown Priority Project, Design Module, Code Test/Debug, Integration of Sub Procedure and Testing, and Test Implementation. The participants consist of 385 students, 9 college guidance counselors and one University Guidance Counselor with a total of 395 participants.

In developing the software, Windows 7 was used as the operating system, Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP) as the scripting language, Notepad++ for the hardcode design, MySQL for the database and Microsoft Word for the documentation.

The software was interpreted as “excellent” by the participants in all criteria, meaning they were satisfied with the software. The software was successfully evaluated and all the objectives were fulfilled. Based on the results of all the tests performed, the software is a viable solution to all identified problems of the participants.
