The student underwent 300 hours of plant practice at Cabuyao Logistics and Industrial Center from November 15, 2013 to January 7, 2014. Specifically, the plant practice was undertaken to provide the student with first-hand experience in quality assurance operations of raw material and packaging material acceptance, develop the skills required of a quality assurance analyst and develop proper working attitude through the interaction with company employees. The student was assigned at the acceptance area of the quality assurance department. Hands-on operations on sampling and inspection of in-coming raw materials and packaging materials, determination of physico-chemical properties of raw materials and dimensional analysis of packaging materials were experienced by the student. Weight auditing of the micro-ingredients premixes for processing was also performed by the author.
Additional knowledge and skills in conducting quality assurance operations in receiving raw and packaging materials were developed through this plant practice. This plant practice helped and prepared the student to assume the role of a professional food technologist in the future.
