A study entitled "Effects of Levels of Cocogro on the Growth Performance of
Newly Potted Phalaenopsis" was conducted at Mataas na Lupa, Indang, Cavite from
August 10 to November I l, 2002 to determine the effects of levels of cocogro on the growth performance of newly potted Phalaenopsis. Specifically, it aimed to determine the: ( l) effect of cocogro on the root performance of Phalaenopsis plant; (2) the effect of cocogro on the leaf formation of Phalaenopsis plant; and (3 the amount of cocogro that
will produce the best results. Four (4) treatments were used in the study: Treatment 0, 5
mL fertilizer per liter of water, Treatment l, 5 mL fertilizer and 10 mL cocogro per liter
of water; Treatment 2, 5 mL fertilizer and 15 mL cocogro per liter of water, and
Treatment 3, 5 mL fertilizer and 20 mL cocogro per liter of water.
A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was used in the study with four (4)
treatments and four (4) replications.
Results show that Treatment 3 was the best in producing the widest and longest leaves of Phalaenopsis plant. Moreover, it is also the best in producing the most number.

Considering the results of the study, the authors recommend to use Tl (5 mL fertilizer + 10 mL cocogro per L of water) for newly potted Phalaenopsis plants with few roots because it helps on the root formation of the plant. When the plants are matured enough, T3 (5 mL fertilizer + 20 ml, cocogro per L of water) is more appropriate to use since it increases leaf formation. Conduct of further studies using higher concentrations Of cocogro for matured Phalaenopsis are recommended, to help researchers in knowing the best concentration for thorough and increase formation of leaves that will improve the yield in cut flowers.
