The study was conducted at Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite from February to March 2013.
The study generally aimed to determine the perception of the CvSU Journalism students on the interactivity of selected online newspapers. It was conducted to determine the following objectives: determine the interactive features of mb.com.ph, inquirer.net and philstar.com the participants are aware of; determine the level of awareness of the journalism students on the two-way communication provided by online newspapers; determine the perception of CvSU journalism students on the user-control feature of online newspapers. Survey method was used as research design. Furthermore, Purposive Sampling was used to select the participants of the study. Based on the framework of the study, the findings were as follows: the features of the selected online newspapers the participants were aware of the following: contact through email or telephone; animations and photographs; organizational chart of the newspaper; background information about the newspaper; related coverage of news articles; archives and search tools; audio and video capability and links to Social Networking Sites; the online newspapers are interactive in its two-way communication function to its users. Participants were aware mostly on the two-way communication of the selected online newspapers. Their ability to provide feedback and additional information became an indicator that an online newspaper is highly interactive. Most of them showed high awareness on the two-way communication provided by Inquirer.net; all three online newspapers have high perceived user-control from the participants for they provided users a feeling of control through their navigation on the website. Based on the perception of CvSU journalism students, the selected online newspapers provided their users with two-way communication function and a user-control website.
