The study was conducted at the Biotechnology Laboratory, Physical Sciences Department, College of Arts and Sciences, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. It
aimed to produce an organic water filter from pineapple leaf fibers and carbon particles.

Specifically, it aimed to design a water filter, determine the bacterial count and physical properties of water filtered using the organic water filter; and to compare the performance of the organic water filter and commercial water filter.

Treatments were: Treatmento, (To,)-tap water; Treatmentoy (Top)-filtered water using commercial water filter; Treatment, (T))-filter consisted of coconut shell carbon tice hull carbon, granulated activated carbon, and pineapple leaf fibers; Treatment, (T2)-filter consisted of coconut shell carbon, rice hull carbon, and granulated activated carbon; and Treatment; (T3)-filter consisted of coconut shell carbon, and rice hull carbon.

Based on the results of this study, the constructed water filter can improve the quality of water in terms of reducing the bacterial content and improving the odor of water. Chemical analysis showed that T1, T2, and T3 surpassed the commercial water filter in reducing bacterial content. The results also showed that T, ranked first in reducing bacterial growth. However, physical analysis showed that T), Tz, and T; did not parallel with Ty, and To except in odor.
