CELZO, ROSE ANNE C. and TOLEDO, TRAZIEL C. Development of Hybrid Solar — Vertical Axis Wind Power Generator at Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2015. Adviser: Engr. Efren R. Rocillo.

The study was conducted from September 2014 to February 2015 at Engineering Science (ES) building rooftop, Cavite Slate University (CVSU), Indang, Cavite to develop, construct, and evaluate a hybrid solar-vertical axis wind power generator. Specifically, the study aimed to: l. determines the wind speed in CvSU; 2. design and construct a vertical axis wind turbine; 3. determine the size and capacity of solar panel to be used; 4. construct and install the hybrid system; 5. test and evaluate the system: and 6. compute the cost of the system.

The study covered the provision and construction of the hybrid solar-wind energy system to be evaluated, which includes one wind turbine and wind generator, two-50 watts solar panels, two charge controller for wind and solar, one inverter and one battery system. The results of evaluation showed the difference in power output of the Wind turbine generator, solar panel and the charging of battery and efficiency of the hybrid system. Based on the results obtained, the following recommendations were made: 1 evaluate the system for a longer period of time, 2. design and develop a safety control circuit/control device to protect the wind system beyond cut-out wind speed, and 3. use other renewable power sources to be combined that can be available in the university. The total cost of the study was P44,250. This included the purchase and fabrication of materials and installation of the whole system
