DE CASTRO, JERMILUZ R. Use of Repetition in an Elaborative Teaching Technique and the Vocabulary Performance of Male and Female Grade VI Pupils in Mendez, Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Cavite State University. April 2011. Thesis Adviser: Dr. Cecilia B. Banaag.

The effectiveness of repetition in an elaborative teaching technique on the vocabulary performance of male and female Grade VI pupils in Mendez, Cavite was investigated. It was conducted in an elementary school from November 2010 to January 2011. It utilized the 3x2 factorial design in a matched random sampling procedure. The test was administered to the control group in which pupils were taught lessons (stories, words, and meanings) written down in Manila paper and not using repetition. The same procedure of administration was done to two experimental groups. One was taught using repetition and the other was taught using two times repetition. The three groups were pretested and post-tested. Findings revealed that one week and two weeks after the treatment, both male and female pupils performed the same on vocabulary performance. However, immediately after the treatment and two months after, the female pupils performed better than their counterparts. The repetition on elaborative teaching technique helped improve the performance of the pupils in their vocabulary
