GALLARDO, TRIA ANNE C. Depiction of Women in Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real and The Legal Wife: A Comparative Analysis. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication major in Journalism. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. Adviser: Racquel Garcia-Agustin.

The main focus of the study was to determine the similarities and differences in terms of character, physical appearance and attitude of the lead actresses of Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real and The Legal Wife. It was conducted from December 2014 to February 2015. Descriptive method specifically comparative content analysis was utilized in this study. The researcher watched top 10 trending episodes of Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real and top 10 most viewed episodes of The Legal Wife and compared the character, physical appearance and attitude of the four lead actresses. The researcher used thematic table in gathering data. Based on the study, the depiction of women in Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real and The Legal Wife have similarities and differences in the character, physical appearance and attitude. These two infidelity-themed primetime shows showed that women are strong, resilient, loving, trustworthy and sacrificial. On the other hand, the wives, Millet never lose hope for her husband while Monica left her husband because she wanted to free herself from pain and heartbreak. The mistresses, Sheila and Nicole wanted to love and be loved. They differed from their looks. Nicole looked sophisticated unlike Sheila. Sheila did not want to be a mistress so she gave up Anthony while Nicole is very hopeful that one day, Adrian will love her back.

Based on the findings of this study, the researcher recommends the following: GMA, ABS-CBN and other TV networks should continue on showing infidelity-Chemed shows so that men and women would learn to value themselves and respect each other.
Producers should have innovations so that the viewers will have interest in watching infidelity-Chemed shows and they would not get bored. Scriptwriters and directors should improve the portrayal of woman. For example, the wife should forgive the husband and the mistress not because the bible teaches to forgive, but for the wife's own peace of mind as forgiving is indeed liberating. However, this does not necessarily mean that they would live together again as couples. At first, the wife suffers so much making her think of inflicting or doing things to get even with the husband, but realizing it would do her more harm than good, she would just focus on her career and with the children.
