REYES, EDWARD JULIUS M. and SALORSANO, ALLAN ROY L. Development of Library Management System for Indang Central Elementary School. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. Apil 2016. Adviser: Ms. Aiza E. Bihis. Technical Critic: Mr. Jake R. Ersando.
The study was conducted from March 2014 to January 2016 at Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite to develop a library management system for Indang Central Elementary School under the College of Engineering and Information Technology.
Specifically, the study aimed to 1. gather data through interview and questionnaire to identify the problem; 2. analyze the problem using fishbone diagram; 3. design a system using the use-case diagram; 4. develop a system using Visual Basic 6.0 which serves as programming language, Microsoft Access for database, and Adobe Photoshop for the graphics; and 5. test and evaluate through modular and unit testing.
The development of the system used a single set of computer system with the following specifications: Intel@ Dual Core processor, 200 Gigabyte Hard Disk Drive,
6.00 GB RAM, and 2.5 GHz and Windows 7 as operating system. The tools and programming language used for the development of the system were Microsoft Access for database, Adobe Photoshop CS4 for designing, and Visual Basic 6.0 as the programming language. Also, iterative development method was used to develop the system using five phases such as planning, requirement, analysis and design, deployment, testing, and evaluation phase. The acceptability of the system was evaluated using six indicators. Results showed that users were significantly satisfied with all the features. The developed library management system of the study will help the users in searching the reference in the library faster and with efficiency. The principal can easily monitor the transactions in the library without spending too much time in reading every page of records. The librarian will be able to record the transactions in the library and print reports needed.
