A study was conducted to determine the Japanese cultural influence through anime popularity among Cavite State University students in Indang, Cavite. There were 140 participants, composed of Otaku Society and non-Otaku Society members, who answered the survey questionnaire. They were chosen through proportionate stratified sampling. The extent of popularity of Japanese anime was categorized (from lowest to highest) into: come-acrosser, mellow admirer, fanboy/weaboo, actual weaboo, and otaku. The overall mean of 2.65 indicates that the participants were generally at Fanboy/Weaboo category. Length of watching and/or reading anime got the highest mean of 3.81 (Actual Weaboo), while money spent for Japanese anime got the lowest mean of 1.75 (Come Acrosser). It was also found that Japanese anime was slightly influential (2.16) among the participants. Moreover, the overall mean of 3.09 indicates that the participants were somewhat willing to adopt Japanese anime influence. There is no significant relationship between the demographic profile of the participants and the extent of anime popularity. The extent of anime popularity also has a significant relationship to the level of influence of Japanese anime among the limeicipants. All of the participants find Japanese anime beneficial to them as a form of ointments, stress reliever, enhancing creativity, and life lesson activity.
