PRACHA BOONSOMPONG, Central Luzon State University, October 1984. Effect of Time of Application and Varying Concentrations of GA, on the Seedlessness of Grapes. Major Professor:; Prof. Danilo T. Eligio

The study was conducted to determine the optimum concentration and most suitable time of applying GA, as well as their interaction on the seedlessness of ‘Brazilian Hybrid' grape.

The times of application were: Pre-bloom, Full- bloom and Post-bloom while the different concentrations of GA, were: O ppm (control), 50 ppm, 100 ppm, 150 ppm
and 200 ppm.

Results revealed that application of 150 to 200 ppm of GAz at Full-bloom can reduce the number of seed in the berry by 0.63 which is significantly lower than the number of seeds in the control berries with 2.73 seeds. Moreover, berries with less seeds are longer than berries with more seeds but with reduced diameter.

Results also showed that fruit setting decreased when GA, was applied. On the other hand, application of GA, at the later stage of flowering, was observed to be better than early application when higher fruit setting was recorded on Toast-bloom.

In terms of yield, the control plants and Frostbloom application yielded the rest of the treatments. In general, however, the ratio between TSS to TA in all the treatments and treatment combinations is high indicating better quality fruits.
