A study was conducted to: 1) identify the respective socio-economic characteristics of existing and prospective subscribers of telecommunication services; 2) determine the reasons for availing themselves of such telecommunication services; 3) ascertain the relationship between the utilization of telecommunication and some selected variables, and 4) identify the complaints and expectations of existing and prospective subscribers of telecommunication services, respectively. A total of 200 respondents were interviewed from the five upland towns of Cavite, namely: Indang; Alfonso; Mendez; Tagaytay City; and Silang. One hundred respondents were existing subscribers and the other 100 were prospective subscribers of telecommunication. The age of existing subscribers ranged from 15 to 71 with a mean age of 35 years. The age of the prospective subscribers, on the other hand, ranged from 16 to 68 with a mean age of 33 years. Meanwhile,
the average household size was five and the existing
subscribers' average monthly income was P10, 020.48 and P8, 476.35 for the prospective
subscribers.

Majority of the subscribers preferred landline, wherein service quality was the primary basis for seeking telecommunication services. The main reason for availing such services was for business purposes as cited by the respondents. The income of the subscribers and the price of the product were found to be significantly related to the utilization of telecommunication services. The rest of the variables were not
