GONZALES, DAVEN GABRIEL P. and SARATAN JAKE F. Improvement of Mac Pherson Type Suspension System Model. Undergraduate design project. Bachelor in Industrial Technology major in Automotive Technology, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite June 2018, Adviser: Mr. Danielito R. Escario.
The Mac Pherson strut component of an automobile suspension consists of a shock absorber mounted within a coil spring. The Mac Pherson Strut is a type of suspension system that uses a single component (the eponymous Mac Pherson strut) to replace two components that were present in earlier systems, a suspension mount for a wheel and a pivot for the steering. Earlier systems had typically used a spring, shock absorber, or other component for the suspension requirement and a component like a kingpin to serve as the steering pivot. This simplification results in Mac Pherson strut systems being less expensive to produce than other systems, although there are also some drawbacks. The design project was constructed into a frame that the authors make for the project. The authors used different kinds of angle bar with different sizes and thickness. The Mac Pherson type suspension system was constructed to lessen the curiosity of the student about the Mac Pherson type suspension system that they not only see in the papers but in the actual project. The design project focused only on the basic principles of the Mac Pherson Type suspension system which was controlled by the transmission and electric motor. The authors include an open shock absorber for the clear view of the suspension and how it works. When the electric motor was turned on, the transaxle starts to rotate the CV joint which were connected to the Mac Pherson Strut and rack and pinion assembly. So the learners and trainers will hear the sound that the trainer produced. The student could determine easily how Mac Pherson type suspension system functions differently from the features of the trainer previously. The design project was tested by the evaluators that give efficient result to add more knowledge for the students. This design project was a huge success for the automotive section they have an advance feature of instructional model, and it's no longer difficult for the instructor to teach their student about suspension system
