The student trainee conducted three hundred hours of plant practice at Farmtec Foods Incorporated located at 112 Rizal Street Sabutan, Silang, Cavite. The plant practice was undertaken to expose the student trainee in the quality assurance operations in processing shrimp powder. This practicum was conducted to provide student with hands- on and actual experience as being a Quality Assurance officer or staff. The trainee was exposed in the Shrimp Powder production process from receiving of raw materials, sorting, storage, drying, crushing, sifting, packing and labelling, Metal Detection, transferring to PNRI and back to FFI and lastly, in the delivery to the clients. Different areas were attended by the trainee. In the production area, the trainee monitored and checked all procedural steps. In the laboratory, she conducted microbial and physicochemical tests were done to ensure that the products are of high quality and safe. The trainee learned to deal with different people with different attitudes to build a good working relationship.
