Light Vehicle Instructional Trainer. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Industrial
Technology, major in Automotive Technology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite.

The Mazda 323 is Mazda's answer to other 1.6-liter cars such as the Toyota Corolla,
Nissan Sentra, Mitsubishi Lancer and the Honda Civic. On exterior styling alone, the 323
deserve the honors. It is far better styled than the Sentra or the Corolla in the sense that the 323
tries to break from the norm of economy sedans. The 323 has a short hood and overhangs
which denote sportiness, which all other 1.6-liter cars, except the Honda Civic, lack. Also, the
323 also presents an exterior which tries to show the roominess of the car, an effect usually
reserved for the cars on the higher end of the buyer market.
The design project aimed to analyze the existing electrical, steering and air-conditioning
systems; design, construct and develop the improvements; test and evaluate the performance
of the improved Mazda 323 light vehicle instructional trainer. The improvement of the existing
Mazda 323 light vehicle instructional trainer will provide students broader understanding on
actual hands-on knowledge that can be attained and uses in their future technical skills. The
researchers used methods in the improvement of the vehicle such as canvassing and
purchasing where different supplies and materials needed in the improvement were canvassed
in Batangas, Imus, Bacoor, Laguna, and Banawe; replacement and rewiring of distributor where
the distributor was replaced because it was the one causing problems; repairing the power
window wherein the disconnected wires were connected for it to work again; repairing the
steering system wherein the old clamp hose was replaced with a new one; repairing the air
conditioning where refrigerant was placed to produce cooler air; lastly the installation of dash
camera. Through analyzing, the researchers found out some problem in the vehicle and done
the necessary steps in order to solve the said problems. All of these problems were fixed with
accordance to its needs and they added other components to the vehicle.
The defective parts of the car were replaced with a new one for better performance. The
researchers improved the appearance of the vehicle by painting the car's mugs and the valve
cover. The improved Mazda 323 light vehicle was now in good condition and running without
problems. All of the problems found were solved with expertise. The painted car parts were
more presentable and the defective parts were all replaced. The newly installed dash camera
contributed to the interior appearance and performance of the vehicle. The design project was
useful for the enhancement of the technical skills of the students and provide broader
understanding on actual hands-on activities. The design project was evaluated by students and
instructors and earned the overall average of 4.7corresponding to an outstanding rating. This
means that the design project was in good condition and the problems found were fixed
accordingly for better performance. The design project also met the overall objectives of the
research.
