The study was conducted in Cavite State University-Main Campus from October 2020 to
August 2021. It aimed to identify the stressors and self-adaptive strategies during the pandemic
of first-year medical technology students of Cavite State University of Indang, Cavite. The study
used quantitative-correlational research design to identify the stressors and self-adaptive
strategies and its relationship with another when grouped according to their socio-demographic
profile. 135 first year students were selected through disproportionate stratified and random
sampling. The questionnaire was adapted and modified to fit the study. The questionnaire was
validated by three (3) licensed psychometricians.
The results of the study showed that too much worrying about responsibilities, lack of
sleep, staying longer indoors, and high-volume workload were the major stressors of first year
medical technology students. The self-adaptive strategies utilized most by the students is
problem focused which is planning, followed by emotion focused which self-distraction is the
most utilized. The results showed that there is a significant relationship between religion and
stressors. There is also a significant relationship between age and self-adaptive strategies.
The study suggested that the university offer online free guidance and counseling to
students and provide extension services such as webinars to increase the awareness of parents
in guiding the students. It is also recommended to offer psychological first aid and training to
students. Future research should be conducted using larger sample sizes in another field or
different level.
