MENDOZA, AEJAY M. Working Capital Management of Batangas Sugar Planters Cooperative Marketing Association Inc. Undergraduate Case Study. Bachelor of Science in Business Management. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2013. Adviser: Ms. Lina Abogadie
A case study was conducted at Batangas Sugar Planters Cooperative Marketing Association Inc., from November 12, 2012 to January 11, 2013. The study aimed to analyze the working capital management of the cooperative using financial ratios analysis. Specifically, it aimed to determine the cooperative's sources of funds as well as the problems encountered during the operation and come up with feasible solution to the problem. The study focused on the analysis of working capital management of the cooperative. Primary data were obtained through observations and personal interviews with the manager and employees of the cooperative. Secondary data were obtained from the records and files of the cooperative such as income statement and balance sheet for five years, from 2007 to 2011. The cooperative exists for the benefit of its members. Since the members are also the owners, they have financial interest in the success of the cooperative. The cooperative has been maintaining positive net working capital for the last five years and is financially sound. A major problem encountered by the cooperative is the limited number of cane cutters during milling season. To resolve this, the cooperative should establish proper coordination and negotiation with the contractors as well as providing more cash advances for the cane cutters.
