RODEROS, KYLE ASHTRID D. Perceived Psychological Contract Violation of Nurses in Selected Hospitals in Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Business Management. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2014. Adviser: Dr. Florindo C. Ilagan This study was carried out to determine the perceived psychological contract violation of nurses in selected hospitals in Cavite. Specifically, it aimed to: (1) describe the demographic profile of the nurses in selected hospitals in Cavite; (2) determine the nurses' perception of the employer's obligations to them; (3) determine the nurses' perception of their obligations towards their employer; (4) to determine the level of psychological contract violation as perceived by nurses; and (5) to determine the significant relationship between perceived psychological contract violation and demographic profile when respondents are grouped according to demographic profile. The participants of the study were 100 registered nurses in private and public hospitals in Cavite. The study was conducted in different areas of Cavite, namely: Tagaytay City, Trece Martires City, Indang, and Naic, Cavite. Frequency count, mean and percentage were used to determine the demographic profile of the participants. Five-point likert scale, mean and standard deviation were used to determine the nurses' perception of employer's obligations to them, the nurses' perception of their obligations towards the organization and the level of psychological contract violation as perceived by nurses. Spearman Rank Correlation and Chi-Square were used to determine the significant relationship between psychological contract violation and the demographic profile of the respondents when grouped according to demographic profile. Results showed that most of the participants were female, single, and serving the organization for a year or less. Both the organization and the nurses were moderately obligated to carry out their responsibilities towards each other. Psychological contract violation was found to be at a moderate degree and no significant relationship was found between the degree of psychological contract violation and civil status as well as the length of service.
