Abstract: GONZALES JOLLY ROSE A. and ISON, GIL FRANCIS G., Design and Construction of a Hybrid Charging Station. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June, 2019. Adviser: Engr. Jonathan M. Calina. A study on a hybrid charging station was conducted from January 2018 to October 2018 at Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite to incorporate the education acquired in the Electrical Engineering program. The project aimed to promote the use of renewable energy. The study will benefit mobile users for it provides a clean source of energy that is capable of powering mobile devices. The general objective of the study was to design and develop a Hybrid charging station. Specifically, the study aimed to: Gather meteorological data, the wind speed and sun hour; design and construct the blade and generator of the wind turbine, test and evaluate the wind turbine in terms of power output and efficiency; design and construct thermoelectric generator; test and evaluate the thermoelectric generator in terms of power output and efficiency; assemble the charging station; test and evaluate the hybrid power system using the charging station as the load in terms of power output and efficiency; and conduct cost benefit analysis. The study covered the provision and construction of hybrid charging station to be evaluated, which includes a solar panel, savonius type wind turbine, a flat plated solar thermoelectric generator, battery, charge controllers and a vendo type mobile charging station machine. The test and evaluation of the system were done by determining the output power of each renewable energy sources and the discharging of battery at different loads and charging using the hybrid system. Outputs include the soft and hard copy of the evaluation results, circuit diagrams and graphs. The total cost of the study was P 40, 779.00.
