Cruz Zambales, Undergraduate Thesis, Bachelor of Science in Biology major in Microbiology. College of Arts and Sciences, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite, June 2019. Adviser: Dr. Yolanda A. Ilagan This study intended to isolate and identify copper, chromium and lead metal tolerant bacteria with biosorptive capability. One hundred thirty-nine bacterial isolates were subjected to metal tolerant assay replica plating against increasing concentrations of Copper, Chromium and Lead. In the preliminary screening, 120, 135 and 139 isolates were able to tolerate the highest concentration of Cu, Cr and Pb, respectively. With further increase of concentrations, Isola 31 isolates survived in copper at 10,500 ppm, 88 in chromium at 12,000 ppm and all isolates in lead at 12,000 ppm. Three isolates namely S 1A1, S3H1, S1W1 were able to tolerate up to 10500 ppm of Cu as well as 12,000 ppm of Cr and Pb considering them as the most promising isolates. S IA1 was identified as Brevundimonas. subvibriodes (97%), S1W1 as Bacillus megatetium (97%), and S3H1 as Lysiinibacillus. macrolides (94.67%) via comparison of the resulting sequences to known sequences in GenBank database through Basic Local Alignment Search Tool (BLAST).
