Energy: an introduction -- Solar energy -- Wind energy -- Biogas and biomass -- Ocean energy -- Geothermal energy -- Energy management.
Summary: " In recent years, the increasing prices of fossil fuels and concerns about the environmental consequence of greenhouse gas emissions have renewed the internet in the development of alternative energy resources. The renewable energy supply is continuously increasing. A large amount of investment has been made during recent years and the advancement of technology has enabled countries to produce renewable energy more cost effectively. In this competitive world, every country wants to be in the league of developed countries by rapid growth and employment generation. This pernicious effect and ecological disequilibrium caused by rapid industrialization and increasing population can’t be unheeded. Present world is moving fast towards development of civilization, industries, factories, power plants, various government institutions, scientific institutions, private organization are growing up on the basis of available natural energy resources. However, these sources are limited and expensive. CO2, CFC and other harmful gases are being produced through the utilization of these sources. Air is being polluted through these gases. So renewable energy will be the best solution. Developed countries are searching for newly alternative energy sources to minimize the pressure on natural sources like gas, oil, coil, etc. This book, renewable energy technologies, explores the renewable energy scenario, by describing the importance of renewable energy and its advantages over fuels. It gives an overview of the renewable energies while evaluating the current status and development of each of these technologies. Due to the energy crisis, environmental and economic, political, market and social issues, researchers have been attracted to develop sources of sustainable and renewable energy, various methodologies can be found throughout the book. To meet the energy crisis, this book is intended to focus on renewable sources like biogas, bio-fuel, solar energy, wind energy, tidal energy, geothermal power, hydro power etc. This book also belongs to subject that how far renewable energy can be treated as an ideal solution of economic development. On the other hand, strong emphasis is put on renewable energy as sustainable technologies, focusing on the relation of renewable energy projects with the overall sustainability of a particular community or system. It is also explored that renewable energy contributes to the sustainability of a particular community or system. It is also explored that renewable energy projects with the overall sustainability of a particular community or system. It is also explored that renewable energy contributes to the sustainability of a particular community or systems. It is also explored that renewable energy contributes to the sustainability of specific territories by providing them with a wide variety of socioeconomic and environmental benefits."--Back cover
