Abstract: ESPALMADO, JOHN MARK B. and MAGSINO, JEROME P. Design and Construction of a Raspberry Pi Controlled Mushroom Growth Chamber. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2017. Adviser: Engr. Edwin R. Arboleda. The study was conducted from December to April 2017 at no. 40 Bancod, Indang, Cavite. Its general objective was to design and construct a Raspberry Pi controlled mushroom growth chamber. Specifically, it aimed to: I. design and construct the control unit for the system; 2. design and construct the growth chamber for the system; 3. develop a GUI for the system; 4. create a data bank; 5. evaluate the system; and 6. conduct a cost-benefit analysis for the system. The study has three main operations: The parameter setting, the control of the parameters and the wireless monitoring. The design of the project was composed of a Raspberry Pi, microcontroller, relays, sensors, and actuators such as cooler, heater and humidifier. The results of the evaluation revealed that the environmental factors concerning mushroom growth can be controlled by using microcomputers and microcontrollers. The environment inside the chamber was comparable to the environment of a conventional mushroom growth chamber. The total cost of the project was P 27,783.
