Undergraduate Thesis, Bachelor of Science in Social Work Cavite State University, Indang Cavite. May 2018. Thesis Adviser Jayson B. Omugtong, RSW This study was conducted from September 2011 to March 2018 to (8) eight househusbands and (1) one registered social worker. The study aimed to determine and discuss the following; 1.) what are the roles of a househusband, 2.) what are the challenges that the househusband are experiencing, 3.) how does the househusband describe their self-concept, and 4.) what are the implication of roles, challenges and self-concept of the househusband in social work practice. The result of the study shows that the majority roles of the househusbands are rearing children, doing household chores and taking care of their spouses. It also reveals that the househusbands are commonly experiencing financial difficulties and having hard time to discipline their children who are not following them as major challenges of their role. Moreover, as one of the results in discussing the challenges of the househusbands, the respondents’ stated that they perceive that other people degrades them. The study exposes that he househusbands have high self-concept as they play their role, according to the respondents it is alright for them to play as support their spouses in providing they provide the needs of their children. Lastly, the study converses that there is no specific programs and services for the househusbands in given locale.
