Abstract: QUEPPET, ETHEL JANE M. Parenthood as Perceived by Teenage Parents in Selected Barangays of Indang, Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis- Bachelor of Science in Social Work- Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite- May 2017- Adviser: Ms- Emma G. Perey, RSW_ The study was conducted at Indang, Cavite at the following barangays: Bancod, Calumpang Cerca, Calumpang Lejos, Buna Lejos I, Buna Lejos Il, Kayquit Il, and Buna Cerca from January to March 2017. It was conducted to determine the parenthood as perceived by teenage parents- Specifically, the study aimed to: 1-) determine how they sustain the needs of their children being teenage parents; 2.) determine the perceived roles as parent being teenage parents; 3.) determine how they handle their responsibilities as teenage parents; and 4.) determine the changes in their lives as brought about by becoming teenage parents. The research was a qualitative study and the participants of the study were seven teenage parents whose age varies from 15 to 19 years and lives as a family—whether they own the house or living with their parents / relatives, or are studying, working, or both. The teenage parents are utilizing different roles as parents and perceive themselves as counsellor, provider, and educator which includes devoting time, dedicating love, giving comfort, and providing needs to their child. Likewise, the teenage parents face countless challenges like lifestyle changes in their lives as an individual; they have feelings of resent and regret and for treating the baby as an accident or consequence for their impulsiveness and as a reason for them to almost stop attending school; lack of finances to support the needs of their children; and having to work at an early age. On the other hand, parenthood as a teenage parent is one of the most challenging and hardest experience anyone could face at an early age, but they learned to be mature(t strong and independent for their families. For them, being teenage parents is not a hindrance to become a good person or parent to their child(L and to even pursue their careers visit their child
