Abstract: AÑONUEVO, RAMIRSON S. and LUMABAD CENYERN D. Comparative Structural and Cost Analysis of a Two-Lane Bridge at Brgy. Guyam Malaki, Indang Cavite. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2016. Adviser: Engr. Marcelino Dagasdas Jr. The design project was conducted at Brgy. Guyam Malaki, Indang, Cavite and Cavite State University from September 2015 to March 2016 and was presented on March 7, 2016, under the supervision of Eng. Marcelino Dagasdas Jr. at the College of Engineering and Information Technology Building, Cavite State University. The study aimed to provide a comparative structural and cost analysis of a two-lane bridge for San Pascual Bridge located at Barangay Guyam Malaki, Indang, Cavite. The proposed bridge was 15 meters in length and a roadway-width of 6.7 meters. Two types of bridges were designed namely, Reinforced Concrete Deck Girder and Composite I-beam Bridge. The study included architectural and structural plans as well as cost estimate for both proposed design of bridges. The San Pascual Bridge located at Barangay Guyam Malaki; Indang Cavite is a nine-meter half-through truss bridge with a width of only 3.4 m that can only accommodate a single vehicle at a time. With this situation, a structural and cost comparison for two types of bridges design was conducted to determine the appropriate design for the existing bridge. These designs are Reinforced Concrete Deck Girder (RCDG) and Composite I-beam (CIB) Bridge. The proposed bridge has a length of 15 m and a width of roadway of 6.7 m. The approximate height of the bridge from the creek ix was 5.8 m. Parameters and guidelines used in the design were based on the specifications of NCSP, DPWH, AASHTO, and also from previous manuscripts pertaining to structural design and analysis of bridges Constructing a RCDG Bridge has a total cost of 2,802,345.66 Php, while the CIB Bridge costs 3,680,654.86 Php. Based on this cost estimates, the price for constructing a Reinforced Concrete Deck Girder Bridge would be more economical than the Composite I-beam Bridge. The difference in their total direct project cost was 878,309.20 Php, which is due to the fact that steel is costly than concrete. The present condition of the San Pascual Bridge would most likely cause future accidents for motorists, thus retrofitting or construction of a new bridge should be able to decrease the chance of this circumstance. The connecting roadway of the bridge should be proposed for if the design of bridges in this study will be adapted.
