Abstract: SEPINO, MARIE CHIARRE M., Professional Challenges and Aspirations of Social Worker Handling Domestic Violence on Children in South Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Social Work, Cavite State University, Indang Cavite May 2017, Adviser Ms. Emma G. Perey, RSW. Challenges are part of social workers everyday life. They face different challenges and ethical dilemmas in handling cases. But despite of that, social workers are motivated in helping children experiencing domestic violence. They provide their clients with hope and encourage their first steps towards a new life. The study was conducted from March to April 2017 in the municipalities in South Cavite, including Indang, Alfonso, Mendez and Tagaytay, to determine the demographic profile of the professionals in terms of age, sex and number Of years in the service, to describe the helping process conducted by the social workers in handling cases of domestic violence on children, to identify the challenges encountered by social workers in handling domestic violence on children cases in terms of personal and professional, and to describe the aspirations of social workers in handling domestic violence on children. The research was a qualitative study. Data gathered was obtained and gained from the social workers in different municipalities in South Cavite. Narrative analysis design was used in this study and purposive sampling method was utilized in determining the total participant of the study. There were seven (7) participants in this study. Two (2) social workers were from the municipality of Indang, two (2) social workers were from the municipality of Alfonso, one (1) from the municipality of Mendez, and two (2) social workers from the city of Tagaytay. They are all female social workers interviewed. The ages of the participants range from 32- 61 years old and the number of years in service range from 10-39 years. The personal challenges encountered by the social workers are the problem in time of work and maximize the time of their family. Aside from managing the cases of domestic violence on children, social workers have other responsibilities like dealing with other sectors that cause them workloads. Some feels threaten and unsafe. And mostly, they feel stressed and burnout. On the other hand, the professional challenges they encountered were mostly institutionalization and referral. The social workers also expressed their aspirations; they want to have a violent free environment and have a normal and better life. They want the child to have simple things that normal children can have.
