Abstract: BALDEO, JENANCY C. AND ERIANDEZ JR, ROY R. Motivation and barriers of coaching differently abled athletes in P111LSPADA-NPC. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Sports and Recreational Management. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2019. Adviser: Ms. Clarisse C. Papa. A study was conducted among the coaches of Philippine Sports Association For the Differently Abled National Paralympic Committee of the Philippines (PHILSPADA-NPC), to determine the motivation and barriers of coaching differently abled athletes in PHILSPADA-NPC. Specifically, the study aimed to: describe the profile of the coaches; determine the motivation of coaching differently abled athletes; determine the barriers of coaching differently abled athletes; determine the difference in the motivation and barriers of coaching differently abled athletes in PH1LSPADA-NPC when grouped according to their demographic profile. The study utilized total enumeration sampling. A total sample of 30 coaches in PHILSPADA-NPC participated in this study. Frequency count and percentage, weighted mean, ANOVA and T-test were used to answer the objectives of the study. Findings showed that majority of the respondents were male and ages ranged between 46 to 50 years of old and had 7 to 21 years of coaching experience. Additionally, most of the coaches were married and had P31,000 to P40,000 monthly income, The coaches in PHILSPASA-NPC were motivated by the challenge, since coaching differently abled athletes is very challenging. The respondents also motivated by themselves, since they were very dedicated in their work. On the other hand, factor like the community, also motivated them in coaching differently abled athletes, because they wanted to prove that differently abled persons can join in sports. Barriers of coaching in terms of socio-cultural, practical and knowledge barriers were not a problem to them. The respondents strongly disagree that it is their way to be motivated, to be dedicated, and to work harder at work. Findings showed that the coach of PFIILSPADA-NPC was very responsible to their obligation. Statistics showed that there was no significant difference in motivation and barriers of coaching differently abled athletes when grouped according to demographic profile of the respondents.
