Abstract: This study was conducted to determine the economic importance of fish production being cultured simultaneously with rice in the: paddies in selected towns off Cavite (Imus, Manga andi Naic),.. Specifically, this study sought to determine: thet (1). socio-economic characteristics of the farmers; (2) average cash expenses on production; (3) differences: in gross income: obtained! from rice production alone end rice-fish production; (4) difference in profit derived from rice productions (5) the: benefits derived by farmers; and (6) problems encountered! in rice-fish production. There: were only; 20 respondents: were engaged: rice production and: rice-fish production used in this study. The rice and: rice-fish farmers hadi an average age: of 49.5 years; attained. formal education from elementary to high school. Majority had four to six dependents. The farmers’ experience: in growing rice had an average of 23.5 years while the average experience in growing rice. rice simultaneously with fish was only 3.4 years.. Most of them: were jand owners: having an area ranging from one-half to four hectares. The (mean total) seasonal income of rice-fish was greater than that of rice farmers... It was proven in the: test that there was @ Significant difference: in income on rice production and rice-fish from their seasonal income. Addition of cultured fish enable the farmer to obtain higher income than rice producers alone. Respondents benefit from rice-fish production because: it serves: as an additional source of income and food supply for the family. However, they also encountered problems, in production like lack of fingerling supply,. occurrence of flood and typhoon andi escape of fish in the paddies.
