Abstract: MARQUINA, ALLAN P., RAMOS, CARLA JEAN R., and SILVAN WARREN M. MRS Swine Enterprise. An Enterprise Development Project. Bachelor of Science in Business Management major in Marketing. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2007. Adviser: Prof. Roderick M. Rupido. The MRS Swine Enterprise was operated by three Marketing major students at SAKA Project, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite from December 4, 2006 to March 4, 2007. The study was conducted to give the entrepreneurs an experience in managing a small-scale business and for them to develop skills in business through practical application of theories learned. Specifically, it aimed to describe the practices followed in the operation of the swine project, identify the use and techniques that hasten swine production, and identify the problems encountered in the operation and propose possible solutions. The project concentrated on swine rising and selling pork meats. The project was operated as a partnership type of business wherein the partners were responsible for the operation of the business. The enterprise had an initial investment of PhP34,500.00. The partners shared equally with PhP11,500.00 each. The said capital was used for purchasing piglets, feeds, vitamins, and other supplies needed in swine rising. Piglets and vitamins were purchased from 3D Poultry Supply and General Merchandise, while the feeds such as starter and grower were purchased from Roguel Mini Trading. Piglets were fed at 8:00 in the morning and 3:00 in the afternoon. Cleaning of pen was done before feeding the swine. After cleaning the pen, the swine were fed by starter mash on the first month, grower mash on the second month, and the combination of grower mash and sakwa on the third and fourth month of the operation. In the start of the business, the entrepreneurs encountered some problems like high cost of piglets. The problem was solved by canvassing of prices of different enterprises, where they could purchase cheaper amount of piglets. Another problem was the increasing amount of feeds, that's why the owners transferred to another enterprise where they could purchase cheaper amount of feeds with the same weight, contents and nutrients. The last problem encountered was the slow growth of hogs. The problem was solved by adding the quantity of feeds and alternating the feeds by "sakwa" so that the swine could get more nutrients from it. The owners gave hog some vitamins and even deworming medicine. From the said project, the entrepreneurs learned a lot regarding swine rising and the importance of having a small business.
