Abstract: DE ZOSA, AGNES L., EDRALIN, RICA KAYE Q., RENOJO, MARIEJOUN R., Education as Antecedent on the Job Performance Among Employees of Selected Local Government Units in Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Business Management major in Human Resource Development Management. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite, June 2018. Adviser: Ms. Mary Grace A. Ilagan. This study was conducted to determine and generalize information regarding education as antecedent on the job performance of employees in selected local government units in Cavite Specifically, it aimed: to determine the socio demographic profile of the employees in selected local government units in Cavite; to find out the educational—related information of employees; to identify the level job performance of the employees in the local government units; to determine the relationship between employee's field of study and highest educational attainment and job performance; to investigate the degree of education-occupation fit of the employees of the local government units; and to determine the difference in the level of job performance of employees according to education-occupation fit. The participants of the study were 311 rank and file employees from the five local government units in selected areas in Cavite. The questionnaire was used to gather data from the participants. Mean, frequency count, standard deviation, and percentage were used to provide descriptions on the demographic characteristics of the participants. The mean and standard deviation were used to describe the level of job performance of the employees. Point biserial correlation method was used to assess the relationship between employees' education and job performance. Meanwhile, Kruskal-Wallis test was employed to compare the employees' job performance to education-occupation fit. The results of the tests revealed that more than half of the employees were female, relatively middle ages, married, successfully finished college and who were working for the unit for 6 to 9 years. The findings further suggested that most of the employees working in local government units finished college with the field of specialization in engineering and information technology. The participants were also found to have exceptional job performance. During the test of relationships, employee's field of specialization was found to be significantly related with the job performance as to the punctuality and attendance, human relations and courteousness, thus the hypothesis was rejected. Employees working in local government units are mostly fit with a percentage of 62. The relationship between education and job performance were not significantly related thus the null hypothesis is accepted meaning, the education of employees in local government units has relatedness to job performance of the participants.
