Abstract: BERIS1A, MYRNA G. HAMLIN INDUSTRIAL CORPORATION. CARMONA CAVITE. Field Study. Bachelor of Science in Business Management major in Marketing. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2002. Adviser: Mr. Roderick M. Rupido. A three-month field study was conducted at the Hamlin Industrial Corporation, located at the People's Technology Complex, Bo. Maduya, Carmona, Cavite. This aimed to expose the student-trainee to the different management practices and operations of the firm and at the same time apply her knowledge learned in the classroom to real work situations. Specifically, it aimed to practice and work as a real employee of the firm; have an idea on how to process papers/ documents pertaining to the recruitment section under the Human Resource Department describe the company's policies and identify the problems encountered by the firm and recommend feasible solutions to them. Hamlin Industrial Corporation is considered as one of the largest exporters and manufactures of knitted wear in the garment industry. Among its product line are men, ladies and children's knitted skirts, sweatshirts, skirts, jogging pants and jogging shorts. All are export sales USA (90%), Europe (8%), and other countries (2%). Among its buyers are Ann Taylor (USA), Liz Clairborne (USA), and Calvin Klein Jeanswear (USA). and Arcadia Group Brands, Ltd. (EC). The management of the firm reinforces rules and regulations for employees to follow wherein provisions, degree of penalties and offenses are written. The management also provides employees some incentives like medical and optical service, sewer incentives, overtime pay and many more to increase their efficiency. Numerous problems of the firm were also identified such as low quality of products that led to many rejected orders and sometimes delay of shipment of orders. The firm should be committed to providing customer satisfaction through quality product services and on-time delivery and its commitment to improve the quality of life and standards of living of its employees and the community of which it is apart of The three-month training was an esposure to recruitment, selection and hiring of trines for production procedures like screening bio-data and endorsing for trial, returning of bio-data of failed applicants and interviewing successful applicants, preparing ID and endorsing forms for trainees, scheduling for exam, submitting requirements and orienting for the qualified trainees to the job. It should spend time on doing clerical works like filing documents, encoding and printing the documents and ID, photocopying documents, receiving fax messages,and answering phone calls. In the conduct of the study, problems that deal with working relationship with the employees of the firm, as well as operating computers and fax machines were encountered.
