The study entitled “Prevalence of Hypertension and Coping Mechanisms among Women in Selected Barangays of Indang and Naic, Cavite" was conducted to reveal the factors causing hypertension among women. Specifically, the study aimed: a) To identify the causative factors that predisposes hypertension; b) to state clearly the clinical manifestations of hypertension; c) to assess the different kinds of coping mechanisms used by hypertensive women. This study utilized descriptive design to describe hypertension among women. A total of 150 women whose ages range from 35-60 years old residing in the Barangays of Poblacion II and III of Indang and Malainen Bago, Naic, Cavite are the respondents answering the non — standardized closed — ended questionnaire and the tallied frequency were ranked according to Likert Scale. Results showed that there is higher prevalence of hypertension among women in Indang (66) than in Naic (31). It also showed that the most common causative factor that predisposed hypertension is the age between 47-52 years old, married and those that usually stays at home, weighs 51-56 kilograms from Indang and 57-62 kilograms on Naic they are commonly experiencing moderate hypertension. The most common clinical manifestation experienced by the respondents in Indang was dizziness, while in Naic was headache. Results of the study also showed that more of the hypertensive women in Indang usually seek medical care hospital, while in Naic, Barangay clinic is the usual source of medical care and are both taking prescribed medication in order for them to cope up with hypertension.
