The student trainee underwent a total of 400 hours of farm practice at Gourmet Farms, Inc., Km.52, Lalaan IL, Silang, Cavite. This farm practice was conducted to expose the student to actual farm management and hands-on training in the commercial production of lettuce and culinary herbs. Management activities performed by the student trainee included preparation of sowing media, sowing, pricking, plot preparation, transplanting, potting of herbs and spices, irrigation, cultivation, weeding, spraying, fertilization, harvesting, weighing, sorting and trimming, washing, air drying, experimental monitoring, farm visit, and assistance to walk-in clients.
After this farm practice experience, the student trainee was able to acquire knowledge in the commercial production of lettuce and culinary herbs and further developed his skills in crop propagation. He also developed good working relations among the workers of the farm.
